Andrew Cregan, Head of Finance Policy, British Retail Consortium

Andrew is the Head of Finance Policy for the British Retail Consortium. He coordinates industry engagement with Government, regulators and providers on matters relating to retail payments and consumer credit, and acts as a spokesperson for retail. He has led the industry response to the Interchange Fee Regulation (IFR), PSD2 and domestic initiatives, including the Payments Strategy. He has also supported HM Treasury and Bank of England projects for the roll-out of the new notes and coins.
Before joining the BRC in summer 2016, he led public affairs and stakeholder engagement for The UK Cards Association and Financial Fraud Action UK, working on the IFR and contactless for transit among other projects. He began his career in the European Parliament working for two MEPs and then as a consultant at the global PR and public affairs firm Burson-Marsteller, advising clients in across a range of sectors including banking. Andrew also served as a London Borough Councillor from 2014 to 2018, and a UK Parliamentary candidate in 2019.


Ban Mahsoub, Head of Gift Cards, Tesco Bank

Benita E. Johnson, Gift Card Program Manager for PetSmart, Inc. has been involved in gift cards for over 16 years – from gift card fulfillment to managing programs for Applebee’s, IHOP, and Meijer. Her current role with PetSmart as Gift Card Program Manager focuses on building git card strategy and partnerships, managing promotions, design, and channel content.
She is in-coming President for Incentive Gift Card Council (IGCC), and is an active participating member in other Gift Card and Incentive industry associations, such as: Incentive Marketing Association (IMA), Retail Gift Card Association (RGCA), and Gift Card Network (GCN).

Don joined KPMG in late 2014 and continues his focus on the retail sector with a view to building on the strength of the firm’s retail franchise and leveraging existing experience and services that are currently employed effectively with other sectors.Although based In London, he is service line and geographically agnostic.

Matt Dawson, Sodexo Ambassador

Matt Dawson MBE was appointed in 2010 as an ambassador for Sodexo to help raise awareness of health and well-being issues and to lend support to a number of initiatives.

With a keen interest in culinary development and food, Matt works across all of Sodexo’s business segments, supporting Sodexo’s activities across the UK and Ireland. Since joining Sodexo he has also become an enthusiastic advocate of the company’s employee engagement approach, playing an active role in campaigns and initiatives.

Matt was part of England’s successful winning team in the 2003 Rugby World Cup, which capped an impressive rugby career at both club and international level. He is also well known as a sports commentator for BBC Radio Five Live and team captain since 2004 on BBC’s flagship sports quiz ‘A Question of Sport.’

In 2006, he won BBC Celebrity Masterchef and published his own cookbook, following his Royal Television Society nominated food show ‘Mitch & Matt’, which was shown on UK Food.

Matt also works with Sodexo on existing and potential large sporting events, which are an important part of Sodexo’s business. Sodexo, with the Mike Burton Group, were responsible for the marketing, sales and distribution of the corporate hospitality and travel packages for the Rugby World Cup 2007, were awarded the exclusive contract for the 2011 Rugby World Cup tournament in New Zealand and the 2015 Rugby World Cup tournament in England.

Matt has played a key role in promoting Sodexo’s global engagement survey, appeared in films to launch new recognition programmes, and fronted the company’s brand ambassador programme which was delivered to 34,000 employees across the business.

Matt is an excellent advocate of the importance of adopting a healthy diet and active lifestyle and helps Sodexo communicate the importance of this by engaging clients, employees and customers at all levels. He is a Sodexo brand ambassador in every sense of the word.


Melissa Minkow, Retail Industry Lead, CI&T

Paul Martin, Chairman Global Retail Group & UK Head of Retail, London, KPMG

An experienced international business professional with over 15 years’ experience in advisory, research and analytics focussed on the retail and consumer goods sectors. Paul was previously the Group Managing Director at Planet Retail. He has also worked in the retail sector for T-Mobile Stores in Germany in Merchandising & StoreOperations.
Paul co-chairs the KPMG/Ipsos UK Retail Think Tank as well as the European Retail Think Tank Next Generation Retail. He teaches retail best practice for GS1 the global retail standards organisation and is a regular event speaker and press commentator on the sector.

During his career Paul has:

• Created the 2020 Commercial Retail & Digital Strategy and Implementation plan for one the world’s top 10 hub Airports. Focussing on the future retail, F&B and passenger services business models and delivering the first pilots within a 6-9 month time frame.

• Led a feasibility study for a UK Symbol Group retailer analysing the potential roll-out of a franchise model. In this context developed a front-end roll-out and organizational change plan to be implemented over the period of 24 months to open 50 franchised stores.

• Established the international expansion strategy for a UK mid-market specialist retailer through identifying the entry markets and relevant business models. Produced a clear implementation plan and relevant operating model changes required to deliver £10m Ebitda from the international business within 4years.

• Assisted the leading UK non-food multichannel retailer in their commercial transformation by designing and implementing the new operating model focused on dynamic pricing, demand driven supply and a customer centric focus.

• Led a strategy project for a global fashion retailer analysing their 1,000 store international operation delivering key recommendations on entry and exit markets and developing guidelines for all future store openings defining, location, size and category mix. Goal of the project was to assist the program in doubling Ebitda over the period of 3 years.

• Worked with the Board and the Merchandising teams of a leading North American based retailer to transform their food to go and private label offering.

• Transforming Planet Retail from a European focussed grocery research program to a global pan-retail analysing program which resulted in doubling the staff headcount and doubling the turnover over the period of 5 years.

• Headed a research project for a Russian multi-channel retailer analysing different options of introducing a loyalty card scheme and comparing global best practice and the impact of loyalty schemes.

Dr. Steffen Rapp is one of the founding partners of Annerton Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH. As a certified tax adviser, he specialises in tax advice for medium-sized companies and entrepreneurs as well as the support of high net-worth individuals. He joined Blackhawk in 2019 as part of their acquisition of One4all Group where Declan was Group Development Director.

Declan is a prepaid and financial services veteran of 25 years having led development of business in the Postal Financial Services, prepaid mobile, money transfer and prepaid cards spaces through successful spells with An Post, Fexco, One4all and his own consultancy business.

Declan is prepaid and Fintech thought leader and has held board memberships of PIF (Prepaid International Forum) and the IMA (Incentive Marketing association). Dr. Florian Lörsch, Lawyer, Annerton

Dr. Lörsch is a partner at Annerton’s Berlin office and advises banks, payment services providers and FinTechs in matters relating to civil law and supervisory law, particularly in the area of factoring where he mainly focuses on methods for paying via invoice, direct debit and instalments. Another of his key areas of expertise is law relating to credit agreements and anti-money laundering law as well as corporate law. Formerly Head of Product Management for Grass Root (UK) Ltd, she was responsible for the very successful development, launch and marketing of their prepaid products. She grew the ‘pure’ prepaid card product and bonusbond gift card on the Visa network to an annual turnover in excess of £18m in the B2B market. She has also worked for Whitbread Group plc, BP and Mobil Oil.

He co-founded Iron Triangle Payment Systems in 2003 where he led organic and acquisition growth for more than 7 years before selling the company to Vantiv in 2010.

During his career Paul has:

• Created the 2020 Commercial Retail & Digital Strategy and Implementation plan for one the world’s top 10 hub Airports. Focussing on the future retail, F&B and passenger services business models and delivering the first pilots within a 6-9 month time frame.

• Led a feasibility study for a UK Symbol Group retailer analysing the potential roll-out of a franchise model. In this context developed a front-end roll-out and organizational change plan to be implemented over the period of 24 months to open 50 franchised stores.

• Established the international expansion strategy for a UK mid-market specialist retailer through identifying the entry markets and relevant business models. Produced a clear implementation plan and relevant operating model changes required to deliver £10m Ebitda from the international business within 4years.

• Assisted the leading UK non-food multichannel retailer in their commercial transformation by designing and implementing the new operating model focused on dynamic pricing, demand driven supply and a customer centric focus.

• Led a strategy project for a global fashion retailer analysing their 1,000 store international operation delivering key recommendations on entry and exit markets and developing guidelines for all future store openings defining, location, size and category mix. Goal of the project was to assist the program in doubling Ebitda over the period of 3 years.

• Worked with the Board and the Merchandising teams of a leading North American based retailer to transform their food to go and private label offering.

• Transforming Planet Retail from a European focussed grocery research program to a global pan-retail analysing program which resulted in doubling the staff headcount and doubling the turnover over the period of 5 years.

• Headed a research project for a Russian multi-channel retailer analysing different options of introducing a loyalty card scheme and comparing global best practice and the impact of loyalty schemes.
